Rachel Margaret Elizabeth McKenzie was born in Bonnie Dundee in the early seventies. Edinburgh has essentially been home since adolescence. She has three university degrees. Philosophy studied at Dundee university was first.    They were the days of debate and then socialising! Disagreements didn’t mean ‘divide and separate’. Derrida hadn’t cemented in yet.                 

Second, she went into Nursing (after a brief stint in wool fashion).   After graduating as a Registered Adult Nurse from Edinburgh’s Napier University, Rachel had many years of fascinating professional work.    Meeting and nursing diverse people who were living life on life’s terms.      As a Respiratory nurse in Edinburgh’s top hospital during Covid,      Rachel had a bird’s eye view that didn’t always equate with the media’s rhetoric.                

Thirdly, she studied Law at Edinburgh University. This satisfied a regret from not studying law due to teenage distractions.    Knowing the Law was extremely important in the blame game compensation culture within the National Health Service and many other situations.

Rachel has previously performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Her plays include The Head Girl, the Gap Year and Sue Ellen, Jigsaw, and also Marking Time.   She served on the Edinburgh Fringe board of directors to promote access to all including ‘Free Fringe” shows.
